Now you might wonder how this gringo became so involved with our Hispanic community and Chamber of Commerce. His heritage is a reflection of rich Latin  culture. Joseph’s grandparents both come from Latin backgrounds and his grandmother on the Menendez side has roots in the Northwest of Asturias, Spain in a small town called Oviedo. His grandfather’s roots are in the Province of L'Aquila of Italy in a small town called Santa di Stefano.

Together they opened one of the first Spanish Italian markets in the Winter Park-Orlando area. It was called the S&M Market. It stood for Sandroni and Menendez and would later be taken over by Joe’s parents. Joe’s grandfather later opened the first Italian American  club in Orlando, launching many cultural social gatherings and festivals throughout the years. His heritage and culture lies in these deep-rooted traditions and he is proud to have been raised with so much culture that shaped his values for community and family.

Joseph Hearn embodies the spirit of community leadership. His tireless efforts inspire us all to make a  positive impact. His dedication has earned him  numerous prestigious awards, solidifying his  reputation as a respected community leader.
